What is Bacterial Plaque and what are its effects?

Bacterial plaque evolves constantly in the oral environment. It can accumulate on the teeth, gums and tongue and can cause bad breath, cavities, gum disease (bleeding) and periodontitis.

Torough, regular cleaning can reduce the formation of the bacterial plaque and tartar which cause inflammation and serious gum and tooth problems.

Once tartar has formed, it is very difficult to remove. Tartar is continuously forming, even with regular brushing. ProDen PlaqueOff® helps you effectively and easily improve your oral hygiene and may contribute to longer intervals between scaling visits.

A study of 30 patients predisposed to plaque and
tartar build-up (using the OHI-S oral hygiene index).

• In addition to their normal oral hygiene, they took two ProDen PlaqueOff^® capsules a day.
• They were examined 8 weeks later and the results are shown in Figures 1 and 2.

• The average reduction in tartar, analysed per tooth, varies between 30 and 60% (p < 0.011 to p < 0.001)
• The average reduction in plaque, also analysed per tooth, varies between 71 and 87% (p < 0.00 to p < 0.0001)

More accurate examination of the initial data reveals that the tartar had virtually disappeared or had been noticeably reduced in 16 of the subjects.

However, for all of the subjects, the researcher reports that the tartar was much softer and easier to remove, and in some cases the patient was able to remove it himself.
